As a child, I was ‘the girl who played football’.
I was sporty in general, competing in football (for the boys’ team at school, of course), hockey and athletics.
I studied a BSc in Environmental Geoscience at Cardiff University, proceeded to work in environmental remediation, then the utilities industry, and then moved to into the world of software, product ownership and business analysis whilst obtaining an MSc in Data Science and Analytics with Distinction - alongside working full time.
And now I’ve left all that behind - or rather come full circle - to focus on providing consulting services in Sports.
Whilst in full time employment, I would pick up extra responsibilities such as being a squad lead, or an EDI champion for my place of work.
From writing educational articles, to delivering seminars, creating internal networks or providing one-to-one peer support, I have always been driven by social change.
Following on from my MSc, I threw myself into volunteering in the sports world, with a particular focus on inclusive environments, such as those that increase access to sports for women and girls, or those that centre LGBTQ+ people.
In 2023 I co-founded The Women’s Football Collective, where the sky really is the limit. From being shortlisted for awards alongside BBC Sport, The Guardian and Lewes FC, to platforming women’s football stories across the UK and beyond, to organising and hosting events, WFC continues to grow, connect and inspire.
I’ve written articles about women’s football, set up a sports network across Wales, educated senior leadership teams and facilitated multi-million pound deliveries of software.
My journey is varied, and I’m so excited to see what comes next.
